Tips for Mom

Motherhood is one of the most exciting and fulfilling adventures we can take in our lives. But it can be challenging as well. Moms have to play many roles, from pregnancy to when their kids grow into independent teens. It’s essential to take care of yourself along the way, with routines, meditation, fresh air, and more.

PixieLane has your back at every stage of the parenthood journey. We’ll help busy moms find the right outfits for every age and every occasion. But we’re way more than that. We’re also the lifestyle support team you can trust.

Here are some of the best tip and hack ideas for moms on the go:

How Can Moms Make Their Mornings Easy?

Mornings are always busy, whether you have infants or older kids. A few simple steps the night before can make the morning calmer so that everyone, including mom, can start the day off right.

Here are just a few ways you set yourself up for morning success with your family’s bedtime routines.

Plan Outfits the Night Before

One great way to reduce the morning madness is to set out your kids’ outfits the night before. If you have really little kids, having their outfits already on hand can help alleviate that morning stress.

It’s even worth it to consider picking out your outfit in advance, as well. Not only will you get those extra few minutes for sleep or just to breathe, but you’ll be able to put together an outfit you really love. That’s sure to give you confidence and comfort through all the crying baby, grocery shopping, and after-school pick-up moments of the day.

Have Kids Pick Out Their Outfits

You can also get out of the house more quickly when the kids are ready to go. It’s a good idea to involve them in the outfit process, so give them the opportunity to pick out their clothes for the next day. When kids love what they wear, it makes mornings easy. You also won’t need to worry about finding that other shoe when the bus is coming down the street.

Add Meal Prep to Your Weekend Routine

Meal prep is one of the best resources for moms, and there are many ways to meal prep that fit your needs. While we often think about meal prepping dinners, breakfast meal prepping can be useful and a lot of fun.

Batch make egg cups, fruit muffins, or oatmeal bars with the kids. They’re sure to have a great time, and you’ll know they’re getting the calories and nutrients they need to stay full and energized all day long. Plan your next grocery store trip with meal prep in mind.

How Can Moms Do Self-Care?

Taking care of yourself is essential to taking care of your family. And that’s why self-care is so important. Self-care is a way to step back, refill your tank, and get the energy you need to support your loved ones.

Discover a few ways moms can start their self-care practice today:

Develop a Hobby or Passion

Our families are wonderful, and there’s truly nothing better than watching our little ones grow up to be independent people. That said, it’s important to take time for the things you love, as well. Try out hobbies and passions that make you feel energized and excited.

Hobbies are a good way to connect with our interests, try something new, and flex our creativity. When you show your kids that you still have your own interests and hobbies, they’ll be inspired to pursue the things they love, as well.

Drink More Water

It can be difficult for busy moms to get a healthy meal throughout the day. That means we often don’t drink enough water, either. The truth is that dehydration can affect us in many ways

Drinking water is essential to the health and wellness of our hair, skin, and nails. It also helps to ensure we’re active, awake, and energized throughout the day. This can be especially important for breastfeeding moms who are avoiding caffeine. You can add fruit or fresh vegetables to your water for extra nutrients and flavor.

Wear Clothes You’re Comfortable In

New moms may find it difficult to feel comfortable and confident in their old clothes. Pregnancy can cause huge changes in the body, and there’s a lot of pressure to lose the baby weight as quickly as possible.

Instead, you want to be gentle to your body—you just had a baby! Work with your doctor’s advice if you plan to lose weight. And, most importantly, find the clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident today. Pick out cozy dresses, soft materials, colorful cardigans, and anything else that will give you a boost of joy when you put it on.

What Advice Would You Give To New Moms?

Becoming a new mom is one of the most wonderful experiences we can possibly have. But it can be a little overwhelming, as well. The good news is that you’re not alone. You have the support, resources, and best advice from women who have sailed this voyage themselves.

Here are just a few things to consider on the path to motherhood:

Trust Your Instincts

There’s a lot of great information on parenting and motherhood. You can ask your best friend and family for advice and turn to books and online learning. That said, you’ll never know it all! And this is a good thing. Motherhood is very intrinsic, and you’ll be surprised at how much you already know about raising your little one.

Don’t be afraid to trust your instincts. First-time parents will get a lot of advice and information tossed their way, but you know what’s best for your babies.

That being said, don’t be afraid to ask for opinions. Your primary care doctor, your child’s pediatrician, and your local community might just have the perfect idea to make your ride a little smoother.

Take Tons of Photos

The early days go by faster than you think. You want to make sure you’re documenting every special moment. Catch shots of them in their cute baby clothes, at the park, with family, or when they meet milestones. You’ll be able to look back on these special moments and share them with your kids in the future. (Just make sure that you are in some of these photos too!)

Find Community

It really does take a village! It can be incredibly beneficial for new moms to know they have a support system in place for when the new baby comes. That can mean everything from a friend bringing around dinner to mom staying over when the baby is born.

Look for your community in family and friends — and beyond. Join local parent groups, get to know neighbors with babies, and engage with school events. This will help you to feel supported along the journey.

Your Motherhood Journey

Whether you’re a first-time parent or you’re growing your wonderful family, motherhood is an exciting adventure. There are new challenges to face and special moments to enjoy every day, and you’re sure to look back on the early months with love and affection.

But while you’re caring for your little ones, you also want to care for yourself. Moms can practice self-care with hobbies, meditation, proper nutrition, and by working on their confidence and joy.
